I grew up with the woods as my backyard. My grandparents taught me which berries
were safe and which plants to respect. My dad, a firefighter and a natural
"MacGyver," taught me that nature wasn't something to fear, it was something to
learn, love, and prepare for. He could solve any problem with grit and whatever was
in front of him.

Those early years gave me the confidence that I could solve anything. But years later,
as a mother of two boys living on the Atlantic coast, that confidence was tested.
Both of my sons contracted Lyme disease. Suddenly, the outdoors I trusted felt
unsafe. When I looked for protection, I found a no-win situation: harsh chemical
sprays I didn’t want on their skin, or "natural" remedies that simply didn't work. I
refused to put DEET on my kids every day, and I refused to let them grow up inside.
Driven by my father’s stubbornness and problem-solving spirit, I sat down at my
kitchen table to build a solution that didn’t exist.

What started as a personal formula for my family soon gained a life of its own. When
Health Canada required formal registration, I didn’t back down. I partnered with
scientists and researchers at Acadia University to refine and validate our formula.
After years of rigorous testing, we earned one of the first natural tick and mosquito
repellent registrations in the country.

PureGard was born from a mother’s need to protect her children. Today, it exists to
restore your freedom outside. We combine the strength of science with the wisdom
of nature so you can choose protection you trust without compromise.

Nature is meant to be explored, not feared. I created PureGard to protect my family
and now, I’m honored to help you protect yours.
